To be awake is to be alive. I have never yet met a man who was quite awake. How could I have looked him in the face? We must learn to reawaken and keep ourselves awake, not by mechanical aids, but by an infinite expectation of the dawn, which does not forsake us in our soundest sleep. I know of no more encouraging fact than the unquestionable ability of man to elevate his life by a conscious endeavor. It is something to be able to paint a particular picture, or to carve a statue, and so to make a few objects beautiful; but it is far more glorious to carve and paint the very atmosphere and medium through which we look, which morally we can do. To affect the quality of the day, that is the highest of arts.

Terrible, terrible things.

Sat Jul 25, 2009, 2:24 PM
It seems all the terrible, terrible things I've done to my old laptop are finally catching up to it. My lease with the devil for its soul and well being has expired, and mortality is beginning to tear it apart.

So, it looks like the immortal, impossible computer I've come to depend on will go sometime fairly soon. A sad day indeed.

What does this mean for you?

My photos and assorted editing softwares are on it, and this new laptop has such a tiny screen (10.1") that it makes such work difficult.

So, I don't know what kind of work you'll be seeing for a while. I still intend to crank out a few more ounces of life from that poor computer, but it can't last forever. We'll see.

Don't try to live so wise.
Don't cry 'cause you're so right.
Don't dry with fakes or fears.
'Cause you will hate yourself in the end.
